At the Women's Training Institute (WTI), we don’t prescribe what you should or shouldn’t do; instead, we empower you with options, techniques, and strategies to analyze situations and respond in a way that best suits you.   • The rotating curriculum equips you with essential self-protection skills, focusing on key areas such as situational awareness, threat mitigation, and de-escalation. You'll learn defense techniques against strikes, chokes, takedowns, and weapons, along with escape tactics and effective striking. We cover home and travel safety, building mental resilience, trauma response, and close quarters firearm use.   • In addition to our monthly group women's training, you can also book private sessions tailored specifically to your needs—whether solo, or with a friend or family member. These sessions can focus on topics related to women's safety, providing you with personalized instruction and hands-on practice in a supportive environment.

  • We recommend wearing sleeved shirts and bottoms that extend past the knee, as you'll be working on mats, against rough surfaces, and in the Shoot House. Please wear tennis shoes; mat shoes are optional, as shoes aren’t allowed on the mats (barefoot or socks are fine). Don’t forget to bring water and any snacks you might need. If you have blade trainers or a Glock 17-compatible holster, feel free to bring those along as well.

We cover key topics like effective striking, defense against common strikes, chokes, and grabs, as well as specialized training with self-defense tools such as neck knives and firearms. You'll also learn grappling techniques for weapon retention and draw. Emphasizing a mindset-first approach, we integrate elements from combat sports like Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to help you recognize, evaluate, and respond to potential threats effectively. The A+R Tactics Shoot House Competition League

Join our exciting new competition league at A+R Tactics! Here’s what you need to know:

  • Location: A+R Tactics Shoot House, 588 Griffith Rd, Charlotte, NC 28217

  • When: 2nd Friday of every month, starting October 11th, from 6 - 8 pm

  • Format: Timed run through the Shoot House with static targets, scored on accuracy and time

  • Leaderboard: Live tracking throughout the night; winner announced at the end (no need to be present to win)

  • Entry Fee Includes: Competition marking rounds, targets, and use of a Glock 17T

  • Requirements: Closed-toe shoes and personal eye protection are mandatory

  • Extras: You may record your run with a GoPro or other devices (no filming of other competitors)
